  • How long will it take to secure a place in the Academy?
Best case, you may start from the next class itself. For children's batches, there is a waiting list and sometimes you have to wait for 6-8 months to secure a place. This is because, we have only professional international standard teachers who go through years of training with Yana and abroad before they can teach. Also, our drop-out rates are very low and students continue their training for many years.
  • How many students you take in a class?
Our classes generally consists of around 25 - 30 students. Our passionate full time teachers have undergone rigorous training under Yana and abroad and are fully equipped to handle bigger classes as well ensuring that each child gets the attention it needs.
  • Can my child learn ballet in a month?
Sorry, Ballet like any Indian classical form takes years to learn. Our academy functions similar to formal education schools where students continue their training on a long term basis.
  • How long does it take to learn ballet?
It entirely depends on what you want to achieve. A ballet dancer after doing years of ballet as a child would join a full time 3 year dance diploma course to achieve a professional status. The dancer would still do regular classes in Ballet.
People from different professions, like athletes or players, may do ballet to improve their body. Ballet starts helping their body within few weeks.
Many moms attend our classes with an aim to learn ballet as well as stay fit. Ballet serves them too.
  • Is 18 years of age fine to start with ballet?
Yes, though generally the earlier the better. If you are working towards doing Ballet at a professional level, we would recommend at around 8 years when you could start doing classes more than once a week. If you are learning it as a hobby, you can start at any age. We have some mums in the class as well who are learning it for a few years now. We also have trained Indian students who started learning Ballet at 23 years who with lot of hard work, attending all classes of Ballet and Callanetics/Pilates  have reached a level where they could apply for full time dance training abroad. You may start with the Grade 2 class.
  • I am a professional dancer. What opportunities do you have for me?
To join us, you will have to start our classes from the initial grade only, that is, Grade 1/2. Further, we shall access you in our classes themselves and take things forward from there.
Along with training in ballet/jazz, our company offers Callanetics & Pilates classes, which serve efficiently to tone dancers' body. The professional dancers can join our pre-professional course and look forward to becoming a part of the academy.
If you dream to go abroad for dance training in international universities, we can train you towards that too.
  • Are there any risks of learning ballet? Is there a risk of suffering from serious ankle injuries?
The greatest risk of learning ballet that you actually need to worry about is wrong training. If you train under a teacher who is not trained enough or doesn't have enough experience and knowledge to teach, you could land in trouble. Wrong technique and training can result in to injuries. Yana Lewis, our principal and teacher has over 30 years of experience in teaching Ballet all over the world to students from all age groups. While most of the classes are taken by Yana, our instructors are all well trained personally by Yana Lewis and have been working with her for more than 6 years. We also follow the international Imperial Society of Teachers' of Dancing syllabus, founded in 1904 and recognized as an authority in setting curriculums all over the world for Ballet. All our classes are safe and we are proud to have zero-injury rate.
  • Are there any risks of learning ballet? Do ballerinas suffer from eating disorders?
Eating disorders are very much a psychological thing which professional Ballerinas sometimes go through. It is slightly exaggerated in films and other media though. Fashion models with anorexic or size-0  frames sometimes go through the same.
  • Is it required to adjust body weight and look fit before one joins the dance classes?
Body training is required to do ballet. You can join Callenetics/Pilates classes along with ballet classes, to train your body. In dance one is constantly working with the body. Ballet being a demanding dance form, our adult students generally take Callenetics/Pilates classes to get in shape faster, work on their body and develop stronger and leaner muscles. For dance, a strong body is required, and not necessarily a lean one!

  • Do you have a summer course?
We do not have offer a summer course yet. Moreover, we believe that ballet cannot be learnt in a short while, but rather requires years of training.
However, we do plan to come up with an introductory summer bootcamp for ballet, wherein people can come and have an introduction to it.
