Position : Costume Designer

Post induction you will immediately start working with the artistic team and choreographers to understand the ballet (stories) & main characters to start designing the costumes. Research online what kind of costumes can be made which can meet the requirements of the artistic team as well as meet the budgets. Be able to tweak design to find a win-win solution to meet artistic needs as well as budget constraints.Use Microsoft excel or other tools for planning and maintaining budgets and track costs during the costume development process. Be able to anticipate cost, schedule and quality challenges and work with top management for approvals and vendors to get the job done.

Coordinate with various team members to ensure fabric and trims orders are placed in time to meet schedule and budget. Source fabric and trims from various vendors keeping costs under check. Work closely with the artistic and sourcing team to gets approvals, develop samples, produce and deliver costumes on time with no fitting issues.

Work with vendors to ensure costumes are delivered with required quality  and schedule. Anticipate & navigate vendor constraints and mitigate risks to quality and schedule by distributing the work among more than one vendor. Be able to consider stretch factors in measurements especially to do with dance fabrics with lycra. Be able to measure dancers accurately and work with pattern master/maker to translate the designs into costumes. Fit costumes on the dancers and work with tailors to make changes to ensure costumes fit correctly. These costumes primarily consists of tutus, and other character based costumes.

As and when required, you should be comfortable working on the field in vendor workshops to get the costumes developed to the required quality and schedule. Be able to ensure timelines and costs are met at all times.

Think on your feet, be on the top of everything all the time as well have fun (should be natural) at the same time work with everyone to get the desired results. You will have a team member to assist you particularly with sourcing. This is very much a team role and you cannot afford to work in silo.
