What is Classical Ballet?
Ballet originated in the courts during the Italian Renaissance, and was based on the social dances of the day. It further developed in the french court of Louis XIV where the 5 positions of the feet found in classical ballet are said to have been defined. Over the centuries this evolved into what we call classical ballet today.
