Frequently asked questions
NO! The great thing about Barre FIT is that it is suitable for adults of any age/physical capability. Each individual performs the exercises to the best of their efforts, and modifications are given by the teacher in case of any injuries.
Fitted clothes, like tights/shorts and a t-shirt/leotard are ideal for Barre FIT so that the teacher can assess alignment and note if you are using the right muscles during the exercises. Classes are done bare feet. No shoes required.
CALLANETICS® is a proven and highly effective training method, recommended by thousands, who have transformed their bodies in just weeks, using our layered series of precise movements. The secret to the effectiveness of Callanetics is the Pulse. The Pulse is a tiny, gentle precise movement that is responsible for the sculpting and toning of the muscles. It is this pulsing action, combined with exact positioning and proper body alignment, which makes Callanetics so effective. These controlled, miniscule, tiny movements are the predominant, most noticeable difference when comparing Callanetics to other conventional exercise programs. Callanetics is acclaimed by thousands who have experienced and seen transformative changes to their entire bodies, not just those trouble zones women speak of. Exercises, designed specifically to target upper body, midsection, and of course, legs, hips and rear plus unique stretching techniques are part of every program. (reference Callanetics website)
Pilates is an innovative and safe system of mind-body exercise using a floor mat or a variety of equipment. It evolved from the principles of Joseph Pilates and can dramatically transform the way your body looks, feels and performs. Pilates builds strength without excess bulk, capable of creating a sleek, toned body . It is a safe, sensible exercise system that will help you look and feel your very best. It teaches body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. Pilates also improves flexibility, agility and economy of motion. It can even help alleviate back pain. Of course. You do not have to be or even aspire to be a ballerina to benefit from the exercises that ballerinas do to have those long, strong, lean muscles.
Sometimes we use light weights or something handy like a 1 litre bottle of water (filled of course). Pulsating movements are very challenging to do even with light weight.
Yes, you most probably can. Please discuss your injuries and provide medical history so we can assess if the classes will be suitable for you. We are very strict about this at the moment, especially now as classes are being conducted online due to COVID-19. Get in touch with us , explain your injuries, if required we will arrange a chat with Yana Lewis and take it forward suitably.
Yes, but you must get in touch with us before signing up. Yana Lewis will go through your profile and perhaps have a chat with you before you can begin with BarreFIT. Exercises are modified to suit you and we use props to work in the class as well as provide support. You will have to wait until classes return to the studios before commencing your classes. Have a chat with us on +918088006677.
Of course , yes. We have experienced that men often have a misconception that BarreFIT is only for women and the exercises , that generally do not involve large movements like Cross Fit, working out in a gym, can seem easy to do. That always changes after they do a class and they find that Barre FIT is more challenging than working out especially so as it works on the muscles in a different way. Try a class and find out yourself.
No. You don’t . If you are doing the class online, a strong ledge or a chair (not the one with wheels) or a table to lean on is good enough. We have ballet barres in the studio.
